Dopamine is a chemical messenger in the brain (neurotransmitter) that helps nerve cells exchange information, affects movement and thought processes, and is considered to be responsible for enabling feelings of pleasure, satisfaction and motivation. It is classified as a catecholamine (a class of molecules that serve as neurotransmitters and hormones) and is a precursor of adrenaline and noradrenaline.
