Vesicles are small, enclosed structures found in cells that are used for storage and transport of various substances, such as proteins, lipids, and neurotransmitters. They are formed from the cellular membrane and are composed of a lipid bilayer, which encloses their contents. Dysregulation of vesicle function can lead to a range of medical conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders, and certain cancers.
